The governing board also approved a change in the Educational Development Program that benefits employee families seeking a UCM education.
December 19, 2022While the University of Central Missouri encourages undergraduate research and collaboration with faculty members, one UCM student has already gained national recognition for a project that he began months before becoming a university freshman. Spencer Vossler, a third generation family member to attend the university, this fall finished in the top 10 for his entry in the Agriscience Fair that took place as part of the 95th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
December 15, 2022Today, Governor Mike Parson announced a $2 million grant award for the University of Central Missouri from the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD) as part of a larger $20 million funding effort. Nearly two dozen postsecondary institutions were selected to provide high-demand career training for new and underrepresented populations and to address the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on agriculture and supply chains.

The celebration will bring families, friends and students together for three ceremonies honoring more than 1,500 individuals who have met undergraduate and graduate degree requirements and are eligible to participate. Made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, this grant funds one of 14 projects from different organizations nationwide that were selected by the DOL and funded through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Susan Harwood Training Grant program.

The two programs – Cybersecurity and Software Development – are the first MIC programs to earn this designation.
November 17, 2022Having dedicated 40 years to public television at the University of Central Missouri, KMOS-TV staff member Michael O’Keefe was honored as the Public Television Station Programming Association’s (PTPA) Programmer of the Year. The UCM alumnus who serves as the KMOS program director was recognized in a ceremony Nov. 14 in Naples, Florida.

When it met on campus recently, UCM’s Board of Governors approved a recommendation to expand the university’s in-state tuition rates to dependents of service members and veterans.
