Middle, High School Students Invited to Participate in Summer Writing Camps Presented by UCM's Greater Kansas City Writing Project
he Greater Kansas City Writing Project (GKCWP) and the University of Central Missouri (UCM) will present two four-day summer camps focusing on creative writing, sharing and friendship. Designed for students in middle and high school, the 2024 Young Writers Camps will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 9-12 at UCM’s Missouri Innovation Campus in Lee’s Summit and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 16-19 at the Anita Gorman Discovery Center in Kauffman Legacy Park in Kansas City.

Missouri Innovation Campus Program Senior Named UCM's Outstanding Design and Drafting Student for 2023-24
Owen Douglas Smith, a senior in the Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) program, was recently recognized as the University of Central Missouri’s Outstanding Design and Drafting Student Technology Student for 2023-24. A 2022 graduate of Lee’s Summit West High School, Smith will also receive his bachelor’s degree in design and drafting this May.

Muleskinner Honored with Best in State Cup Award by Missouri College Media Association
The University of Central Missouri student news outlet, "The Muleskinner," dominated the state college media awards including the Best In State Cup award during the Missouri College Media Association (MCMA) and Missouri Broadcast Educators Association’s (MBEA) Convention on April 6 at Crown Center in Kansas City.

UCM Students Secure Second Place in National Digital Marketing Competition
Four outstanding students from the University of Central Missouri have clinched second place in the prestigious 2024 National Digital Marketing Competition. The team, composed of Karter Burnside, Hale; Delaney Mallory, Braymer; Emma Rueter, Kansas City; and Piper Stevens, Lone Jack, excelled to the finals, surpassing hundreds of other university teams in a rigorous contest that highlights the best in digital marketing prowess.

Ushering in a new era of support and success for the Mules and Jennies golf teams, the University of Central Missouri celebrated the opening of the new Randall and Kelly Harbert Collegiate Golf Center at the Mules National Golf Club on April 20.

Harris-Stowe President, Military and Veterans Leader Honored by SGA
A University of Central Missouri alumna who is the first woman to serve as president of Harris-Stowe State University and a UCM leader who is making a difference in the lives of active duty military students, veterans, and military dependents were recipients of annual awards presented by the Student Government Association on April 16. The awards ceremony took place at the Read and Relax area on the ground floor of the James C. Kirkpatrick Library. Harris-Stowe’s 21st President, Dr. Latonia Collins Smith, received the James C. Kirkpatrick Excellence in Governance Award and UCM’s Director of Military and Veteran Services, Courtney Swoboda, was presented the Walter Hicklin Excellence in Service Award.
