The University of Central Missouri will celebrate the completion of the renovation of the W. C. Morris Science Building on the UCM campus with a public event at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25.

UCM Aviation Receives Gift of Boeing 737 Engine

The University of Central Missouri Department of Aviation recently received a gift of a CFM International CFM36 jet engine from Southwest Airlines. The engine, removed from service on Southwest’s fleet of Boeing 737 airliners, will become a valuable tool in hands-on instruction for students in UCM’s aviation maintenance program, as well as all other aspects of UCM aviation program.

McCownGordon Named Construction Manager for STEM Facility Renovation

As the University of Central Missouri further enhances its science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education capabilities through renovation of the Wilson C. Morris Science Building (WCM), an important step to move the project forward took place Dec. 11 as the Board of Governors awarded a contract to McCownGordon Construction in Kansas City, Mo., to serve as construction manager.

Amended Charter Agreement with Crossroads Academy Among Board Actions

Expansion of a charter school agreement to include additional educational services to students in Kansas City, updated services regarding life safety system testing and inspection, a new graduate certificate program, and a contract for airport grading and tree clearing improvements were among action items approved by the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors when it met on campus Oct. 16.
