A highlight to a program that included artistic expression in the form of dance, live drawing, music and a shared presentation of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, four University of Central Missouri students were honored with scholarships named for the famous civil rights leader and humanitarian. A campus known for its outstanding traditions, the University of Central Missouri will launch Jingle on the Quad, a holiday lighting ceremony, along with other events highlighting the season Nov. 29–Dec. 1. Giving Tuesday opens these festivities, followed by the Holiday Market, two evenings dedicated to the First Lady’s Holiday Concert Series, and a performance by the UCM Jazz Ensemble. All events are free and open to the public.

The University of Central Missouri held its first-ever “Match Madness” day of giving March 22 to raise funds for UCM Athletics. Mules and Jennies sports teams faced off in a friendly competition for a share of the matching gift donated by generous alumni and friends.

With the 2022 theme, “Living the Dream: Live and in Color,” the University of Central Missouri in January will host a variety of special events on campus and in cooperation with local organizations to honor the legacy of civil rights leader and humanitarian Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Freedom Scholarship Fundraiser, Community Praise and Worship Service, and the annual Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce Community Service Awards Luncheon are among these special events, in addition to other opportunities at UCM’s Warrensburg and Lee’s Summit campuses.

WARRENSBURG, MO – In recognition of graduates’ outstanding achievements, the University of Central Missouri will celebrate its 2021 Homecoming with the annual Distinguished Alumni Dinner at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, in the Sandra Temple Elliott Ballroom of the Elliott Student Union. Two individuals will be honored as this year’s Distinguished Alumni, and five alumni will be recognized as 2020 honorees. Those who register for the dinner (ucmfoundation.org/2021distinguishedalumnidinner) will be able to watch the program via livestream.
