Step One

Set yourself up for success with a personal Gmail account

Use a personal Gmail account for your UCM application and account recovery information instead of a high school account or a parent’s email address.

High school email systems may block outside messages, and school accounts may be disabled after graduation. Hotmail, iCloud, Yahoo and AOL accounts can also have trouble receiving automated UCM messages.

Best choice: an email account the student controls.
Create or use a personal Gmail account that you check regularly. Do not use a parent’s account as the student’s primary email.

  • Use the same personal email throughout your UCM enrollment process.
  • Check the inbox and spam folder for UCM account messages.
  • Keep access to this email because it is used for username and password recovery.

Step Two

Fill out the FERPA form

College records belong to the student, even when the student is still in high school. UCM cannot discuss protected academic information with a parent or another person unless the student gives written permission.

The student can complete the Authorization to Release Educational Records form to allow UCM to share approved information with a parent, guardian or other trusted person.

The student must complete and sign the form.
Submit it to the Office of the Registrar and Student Records. The form includes instructions for delivery by email, fax or in person.

Step Three

Create or reset your UCM password

Your UCM username and password are used for MyCentral, Brightspace, UCM email and other university services.

  1. Go to MyCentral and select Forgot Password.
  2. Enter the requested account information.
  3. Check the personal email address you provided to UCM.
  4. Follow the message from UCM to create a new password.

No password-recovery email?
Check spam or junk mail first. If the message does not arrive, contact the Technology Support Center rather than repeatedly submitting the form.

Step Four

Set up Duo multi-factor authentication

Duo adds a second layer of protection to your UCM account. Install and use the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone.

Use the Duo Mobile app, not text messages.

App approval is the recommended and more reliable way to verify your identity. It can also generate a passcode when cellular service is unavailable.

  1. Open the Duo enrollment email sent to your UCM email account.
  2. Select the enrollment link and choose Duo Mobile.
  3. Install Duo Mobile from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  4. Use the app to scan the QR code shown during setup.
  5. Allow notifications so you can quickly approve sign-in requests.

Step Five

Know MyCentral, your UCM account hub

MyCentral is the main hub for your UCM student account. Start there when you need to review account information, access student services or manage financial items.

Sign in with your UCM username and password, then complete the Duo Mobile prompt. The cards and links available in MyCentral may change based on your enrollment and access.

  • Review personal information and keep your personal email current.
  • Use MyCentral to reach student account and financial services.
  • Save the MyCentral address in your browser bookmarks.

Log in to MyCentral

Step Six

Pay your UCM bill

Students can review and pay their UCM bill through MyCentral.

  1. Log in to MyCentral.
  2. Open the student account or payment area.
  3. Follow the link to the UCM payment portal.
