Secondary Education, BSE - English

Our Stories Matter

If you want to teach English, the BSE in Secondary Education-English option was designed with you in mind. Your program courses will include a wide variety of topics, from composition to literacy, and are taught by professors who have taught in regional high schools and know the challenges and triumphs you will experience. You will have many choices in literature coursework from American, to British, and world literature. Should you decide to continue on toward graduate education, this program provides a good foundation for English or other relevant fields.

Your Story Matters

In the English Education program, we believe that your story matters. We offer opportunities to explore your own story and develop ideas that will support your future students' stories. Our community of learners work closely together through the program and join a field with many opportunities for teaching positions.

Student Learning Outcomes

You will use the knowledge and skills obtained in the Secondary Education program to:

  • Meet all Missouri Teacher Standards (MTS).
