If you are an Elementary Education major who may use English/Language Arts as an area of concentration, this minor is designed for you. However, since reading and writing are the foundation of a comprehensive education, English may be a high priority in any teacher education major’s program preparation. This minor offers courses on a wide array of literature from different time periods, nations, and perspectives. You can study topics ranging from medieval romances to modern dystopias; from Jane Austen’s England to Langston Hughes’ Harlem; from Hamlet to Huckleberry Finn.
In the English Education program, we believe that your story matters. We offer opportunities to explore your own story and develop ideas that will support your future students' stories. Our community of learners work closely together through the program and join a field with many opportunities for teaching positions.
