Faculty-Led Programs

Every year, UCM faculty lead short-term study abroad programs across the globe. Make the world your classroom by applying to one of these unforgettable opportunities!

Our Study Abroad staff, part of the Center for Global Education (CGE), works closely with faculty to design programs that offer some of the most rewarding and memorable experiences of a student’s life.

How do I search for Faculty-Led Tours?

You can access a list of Faculty-Led Tours by logging into our Study Abroad Student Portal and searching "Faculty-Led."

Are Faculty-Led Tours affordable?

Faculty-led programs are among the most affordable ways to study abroad, offering short-term experiences with lower overall costs than semester programs. Students can apply for scholarships through Scholarship Finder and are automatically considered for a Study Abroad Grant upon acceptance. In many cases, financial aid can also be applied toward program costs, depending on remaining eligibility. We highly recommend starting your financial planning early by meeting with your Financial Aid Coordinator in the Student Financial Services office to explore all available options.

What are the eligibility requirements to be accepted?

Eligibility for faculty-led study abroad programs varies by program, but most require students to have completed at least 15 credit hours at UCM and to be in good academic standing. Some programs may have additional requirements based on the course. Complete details can be found in each program’s brochure within the Study Abroad Student Portal.

When should I apply?

It’s best to apply as soon as you find a program that fits your interests and schedule. Spots in faculty-led programs are limited and often fill quickly. When planning, consider your graduation timeline, as participating in a program that extends past your graduation date could delay your degree completion. Once you’ve applied, we recommend contacting the faculty member leading the tour to express your interest and ask any remaining questions about the program.
