Dr. Nicole M. Nickens, Ph.D.
Dr. Nickens attended Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State) and graduated with a BA in Psychology and Child Development before attending graduate school at the University of Missouri-Columbia. At MU she completed her masters and doctoral work in educational psychology. She worked in public elementary, middle and high schools in Jefferson City and Columbia as a behavioral specialist and mental health case manager. She taught at Columbia College main campus in Columbia and as a graduate teaching assistant at MU, as well as teaching for MU Extended Campus for off-campus cohorts as well as online. Dr. Nickens arrived at UCM in 1999. She and her husband reside in the Kansas City area along with their 4 children. She loves the UCM campus and community and enjoys the perspectives that students bring to their classes. Research interests include teacher education reform, assessment, and professional dispositions. She teaches Educational Psychology and graduate-level courses.
