UCM Distinguished Alumnus to Present Keynote Address at Pre-Patriot Day Event

An annual ceremony honoring the men and women who died and those who responded to terrorist attacks on the United States Sept. 11, 2001 will be observed by the University of Central Missouri Friday, Sept. 9. The ceremony begins at noon near the flagpole at the quadrangle, and is open to members of the campus and local communities.

Deborah Curtis, provost and chief learning officer at the University of Central Missouri, in conjunction with The Performing Arts Series and the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, will open the 2016-2017 performance season as she hosts the annual Provost’s Faculty Showcase of the Arts, presented by the Department of Music at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 in Hart Recital Hall.

Board Authorizes Union Renovations Needed for Steak 'n Shake, Chick-fil-A

As the University of Central Missouri enhances its food service options to students and the local community in the Elliott Student Union, the Board of Governors has approved up to $300,000 in additional renovations and upgrades to accommodate the new Steak ‘n Shake and the relocation of Chick-fil-A, both nationally known food franchises.

Iske Recognized by the American Industrial Hygiene Association with the Henry F. Smyth, Jr. Award

S. D. Allen Iske, Jr., professor of safety sciences in the School of Environmental, Physical and Applied Sciences in the College of Health, Science, and Technology at the University of Central Missouri, has been named the recipient of the 2016 Henry F. Smyth, Jr. Award by the American Industrial Hygiene Association.

Return With Purpose, a free workshop that will help military personnel and veterans identify barriers in order to make a smooth transition from active duty to civilian life and career planning, is offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the University of Central Missouri. Registration is being accepted through July 25 for this one-day session, which takes place in Room 101 of the Elliott Student Union.
