Board Approves Mid-Year Fee Increase, Increases in Room and Board for Fall '17

In an effort to help the University of Central Missouri meet inflationary costs and address budget challenges that stem from state withholdings of appropriations, the Board of Governors approved a 0.7 percent mid-year increase in undergraduate students’ academic fees that take effect this fall. An increase in room and board rates, effective for the fall 2017 semester, also was approved when the board met on campus Friday, March 17.

UCM Introduces SeedStar Books with Launch of Two Student-Produced Titles

SeedStar Books, a new children’s literature imprint from the University of Central Missouri, will be celebrating the launch of two new books at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 18, in Café Rouge at the Elliott Student Union on the UCM Campus.

The University of Central Missouri College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences will celebrate the life and work of Conan Castle, professor emeritus of music, with a special performance of the UCM Alumni Choir at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in Hart Recital Hall.

UCM Aviation Receives Gift of Boeing 737 Engine

The University of Central Missouri Department of Aviation recently received a gift of a CFM International CFM36 jet engine from Southwest Airlines. The engine, removed from service on Southwest’s fleet of Boeing 737 airliners, will become a valuable tool in hands-on instruction for students in UCM’s aviation maintenance program, as well as all other aspects of UCM aviation program.

KMOS to Air Vietnam War Documentary, Offer Preview/Engagement Events

Adding to the University of Central Missouri’s plans to host The Wall that Heals this summer, the university’s public television station, KMOS-TV, joins efforts to educate local citizens about the Vietnam War through a heralded 10-part Ken Burns and Lynn Novick documentary series this fall preceded by grant-funded community engagement/preview events.
