Construction Kick-off Celebrates New Summit Technology Academy-Missouri Innovation Campus

With strong participation from the University of Central Missouri, the Lee’s Summit community celebrated the construction kick-off of a new facility designed to house nationally recognized programs that are reshaping the way students experience education. At a March 10 groundbreaking ceremony, representatives from the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District and UCM launched construction of a new Summit Technology Academy / Missouri Innovation Campus.

From its locally produced programs to engagement with K-12 students and educators across the region, KMOS shares with other PBS-member stations in a #1 rating in public trust among nationally known institutions. The same study scored PBS above the public courts of law, in second place for public trust, touted PBS’s positive impact on the education of the nation’s children, and also confirmed that people consider PBS “an excellent use of tax dollars by the American public.”

Joy Stevenson, Ph.D., director emerita of the University of Central Missouri International Center, has been appointed to serve as one of two public members on the 13-member Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA). Recognized by the Secretary of the United States Department of Education, CEA is a specialized accreditation agency focusing on intensive English language programs and institutions serving students in higher education around the world.
