One Campus, One Book Author to Present Book Talks at UCM

Elizabeth Svoboda, author of the University of Central Missouri’s One Campus, One Book selection, What Makes a Hero? The Surprising Science of Selflessness will present a book talk at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in Hendricks Hall. A book signing is planned following each talk.

Amended Charter Agreement with Crossroads Academy Among Board Actions

Expansion of a charter school agreement to include additional educational services to students in Kansas City, updated services regarding life safety system testing and inspection, a new graduate certificate program, and a contract for airport grading and tree clearing improvements were among action items approved by the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors when it met on campus Oct. 16.

Performing Arts Series, Department of Music Present Cox and Gulley in Concert

The Performing Arts Series at the University of Central Missouri, in conjunction with the Department of Music, presents “Love and Longing,” a concert of romantic love duets performed by soprano Tracy Cox and tenor Ben Gulley, accompanied by Dale Morehouse on piano. The concert is planned for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Hart Recital Hall.

With the fall commencement ceremony traditionally featuring a smaller number of participants than spring graduation exercises, the University of Central Missouri’s Commencement Committee is planning for three ceremonies Dec. 11-12.

State Organization Honors Brant as Outstanding Academic Advisor

Dedicating her time to helping students, longtime University of Central Missouri staff member Paula Brant was honored in her professional field when the Missouri Academic Advising Association presented her with the Outstanding Academic Advisor Award. She was honored during the organization’s annual conference Sept. 24-25 at Camden on the Lake of the Ozarks.

That is the message former combat veteran and major in the United States Army, Ron Pierce, provided to men and women who heard his keynote remarks at the Veterans Summit Friday, Oct. 9 at the University of Central Missouri.
