Meet the Team

The University Relations team is composed of marketing, communication, design, web development, news, video production and photography professionals. As experts in our areas, we bring a "big picture" perspective to projects and offer proven strategies that relay information in the most useful and integrated way possible.

Kelly Waldram

Kelly Waldram Cramer, director for marketing and promotions
Waldram Cramer is the primary contact for University Relations job requests. She is responsible for managing critical projects in areas like recruitment, presidential initiatives, special events and the like. She also meets with a wide range of on-campus clients on a regular basis to determine their marketing needs. She uses her experience with marketing research, strategy and communication to support clients with marketing plans, including ways to analyze and evaluate marketing efforts.

Waldram Cramer has worked in the marketing industry for more than 15 years and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree and a Master of Business Administration degree, both with marketing concentrations, from UCM. She is the 2014 recipient of the Carl B. Foster/John M. Inglish Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Service in Public Relations.

Jeff Murphy

Jeff Murphy, assistant director for media relations
Murphy is the senior news writer and lead media relations representative for UCM, with major responsibilities that include responding to media requests, initiating press conferences, placing stories in print and electronic media, and serving as a university spokesperson for key issues, including crisis situations. With more than 35 years of combined journalism and public relations experience, he works closely with the news bureau manager in providing supervision for the student-led public relations firm, Innovative Public Relations, and is part of the multi-hazard emergency management planning and communication team for the university.

Murphy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations degree and Master of Arts in Communication degree from UCM. The father of one daughter, and grandfather to three children, he is a recipient of the Carl B. Foster/John M. Inglish Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Service in Public Relations and the 2015 recipient of the John P. Mees Award for Outstanding Professional Staff.

Ruth Dickson, assistant director for marketing
Ruth Dickson is the assistant director of marketing for University Relations. She has over a decade of experience leading creative teams to develop printed and digital marketing materials. Ruth's background is in writing, and she has worked internationally as a marketing professional to produce materials including email campaigns, digital marketing, white papers, blog posts, news articles and press releases.

As assistant director, Ruth works with clients to develop marketing strategy, design, and vision, as well as advise on UCM brand and best practices. She is the 2017 recipient of the Carl B. Foster/John M. Inglish Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Service in Public Relations. 

Ruth has a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing and Literature from the University of East Anglia (United Kingdom).

Chris Young, assistant director for web and digital marketing
Chris Young is the primary contact for the website and digital marketing efforts across the University. His areas of responsibility include website content and updates, and digital  marketing strategy and implementation, management of the University's social media outlets, photography, and videography.

He also frequently meets with on-campus clients to provide strategy and recommendations regarding new digital marketing efforts and report on existing campaigns. Young's integrated marketing background brings knowledge of how to coordinate, measure and maximize both digital and traditional marketing programs. 

Young has worked in technology and marketing industries for 30 years, and is a UCM graduate, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with emphasis in Marketing Computer Technology. 

Young was the 2012-2013 Sedalia Rotary Club president and the club's 2009-2010 Rotarian of the Year. He lives in Sedalia with his wife Ann and their two daughters.

Mike Greife

Mike Greife, news bureau manager
Greife is responsible for creating and distributing news releases about UCM events and faculty, staff and student achievements to media. He is also responsible for maintaining news content on the UCM Daily website and social media, and editing the content of UCMDaily, the online daily newsletter.

He also co-supervises Innovative PR, a student-led public relations firm housed in University Relations.
Greife has a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in speech, journalism and English from UCM. Prior to his work in public relations, he was a high school English and journalism teacher and worked as a newspaper publisher, editor, reporter and photographer. He lives in Warrensburg, Mo., with his wife, Jo.

Mike Greife

Sam Schleicher, communication specialist
Schleicher is the primary manager of the university’s social media platforms. With his journalism background and multimedia production experience, he is dedicated to sharing dynamic stories from the UCM community and highlighting the university’s presence on the web. Prior to working in higher education, he created digital advertising campaigns and served as an online content editor for a variety of television and radio stations.

Schleicher received his Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri in 2010. He currently resides in Green Ridge with his wife Liz and their two children.

John Kennedy

John Kennedy, web and multimedia producer
Kennedy serves as producer, writer, editor and voice-over talent for University of Central Missouri promotional videos, television and radio commercials, as well as online video content. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in video production.

Kennedy has a Master of Arts in Communication and a Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting and Film, both from the University of Central Missouri. He and his wife Laura, a UCM alumna, are the parents of three children and reside in Warrensburg.

Brittan Williams

Brittan Williams, video and multimedia producer
Williams serves as a videographer, producer, and editor for University of Central Missouri promotional videos, television and radio commercials, as well as social media video content.

Williams has a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media Production with an emphasis in film and video from the University of Central Missouri. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Communication from the UCM. He and his wife, Abby, a UCM alumna, reside in Warrensburg with their dog, Zoe.

Sarah Chamberlin, senior designer and brand specialist
Chamberlin designs print and web collateral for a variety of areas on campus. She also develops promotional items for use by campus offices and departments.

Chamberlin has 20 years experience in the marketing communications industry. She has been privileged to work with some of Kansas City's best in advertising and marketing communications. Her career has included national clients from both private and public sectors. Chamberlin has a passion for working with national and regional not-for-profit organizations.

Chamberlin has a Master of Arts in Communication and a Graduate Certificate in Women's and Gender Studies from UCM. She also received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art degree from CMSU in 1997.

An Quigley

An Quigley, senior designer
Quigley designs promotional materials for a variety of areas on campus. She has more than 20 years in the design industry--from individual and to corporate clients. She recieved a Bachelor of Fine Arsts in Commercial Art from Central Missouri State University.

Linda Harris, designer
Harris designs promotional materials for a variety of areas on campus. She has over 25 years of experience leading and serving on creative teams. Prior to working for University Relations, Harris worked for a marketing firm where she developed print, digital and content marketing campaigns for local, national and international clients. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Commercial Art from Central Missouri State University.

She lives in rural La Monte, Mo., with her husband, Shawn, a UCM alumnus, and their son.

Shawna Bell

Shawna Bell-Newman, senior marketing specialist
Newman serves as a writer, editor, event leader in the development and leadership of marketing plans that integrate a variety of media platforms. Her media integration background includes, Web writing and marketing, video script writing/storyboarding, e-communications, promotional/community events, and traditional collateral pieces. 

With nearly 10 years of combined marketing experience in the entertainment and educational industries, she has had the opportunity to work on a variety of events such as UCM's annual Choose Red Auditions and the annual community street fair event, Get The Red Out.  She has also interacted and produced concert collateral in conjunction with artists such as Chubby Checker, Pam Tills, Sammy Kershaw, the Little River Band and more.

Newman graduated from UCM with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations degree from UCM in 2006. She is currently pursuing her master's degree at UCM.

Ellen Blaize, integrated marketing specialist
Blaize serves as a writer and editor to support a wide range of clients with marketing counsel and implementation. One of her main focuses is developing effective, consistent and relevant branding and positioning messaging around university goals, initiatives and the strategic positioning platform in order to target and drive web traffic. She also assists in the development of social media plans to increase recruitment and engagement.

Prior to working in higher education, she worked as a marketing  coordinator in the automotive collision industry for four years, where she managed social media platforms, designed ads and planned special events. She also has a background in journalism, and worked as the managing editor for The Muleskinner at UCM, and as an intern for Fox 4 News in Kansas City.

She received a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Media in 2011 and a Master of Arts in Mass Communication in 2013, both from UCM. She and her husband Josh reside in Warrensburg with their basset hound Edna, and their cat Luna.

Christina Tils, marketing assistant
Tils is the marketing assistant for University Relations. She has over 16 years of strategic planning and has currently worked as the administrative assistant to Human Resources. She graduated from State Fair Community College and received an Associates in Arts in Business. She is currently attending Central Methodist University and earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management.
