While the University of Central Missouri’s Office of Military and Veteran Services works with local veterans organizations to help plan for Veterans Day Nov. 11 in the Warrensburg community, two special activities also will take place on campus to honor university veterans and others who have served their country.

Dr. William A. Reed, M.D., founder of the William A. and Mary J. Reed Cardiovascular Surgery Center and chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Services at the University of Kansas Hospital, will present a reading and talk for his recently published book, The Pulse of Hope, A Surgeon’s Memoirs from Poverty to Prosperity at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in Nahm Auditorium at University of Central Missouri.

Expansion of a charter school agreement to include additional educational services to students in Kansas City, updated services regarding life safety system testing and inspection, a new graduate certificate program, and a contract for airport grading and tree clearing improvements were among action items approved by the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors when it met on campus Oct. 16.
