UCM Faculty Member, Safety Advisory Board Chair Honored as ASSP Fellows

Two individuals who have had an impact on University of Central Missouri students entering the safety profession, Bruce Lyon and Georgi Popov, have been honored as Fellows by the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP). They are among three 2023 recipients of this award which is the highest honor given by the Society in recognition of their significant contributions to the occupational safety and health profession.

A nationally recognized partnership designed to provide quality training for high-demand CNA (certified nursing assistant) positions is now in its fifth year at University Health Lakewood Medical Center. Developed by the University of Central Missouri and University Health, the learn-as-you-earn program offers debt-free scholarships to qualifying adult learners as well as both salary and benefits during the training period.

UCM Theatre and Dance Premieres 'Remember the Dance' April 20-23

UCM Theatre and Dance presents “Remember the Dance” in the Black Box Theatre at Nickerson Hall at 7:30 p.m. April 20, 21 and 22 and 2 p.m. on April 22 and 23. The April 23 matinee is Pay-What-You-Can (minimum $1), and will include ASL interpreters. Seating is limited, and tickets are available now. The show is family-friendly.

A University of Central Missouri student from Wesphalia, Missouri, has received the top honor in an annual program that recognizes exemplary student employees. The Student Employee of the Year awards ceremony was conducted by UCM’s Office of Human Resources on April 10, also recognizing two others students who placed in the top three, qualifying each of them to receive a trophy, certificate, and a sponsored financial award.

The University of Central Missouri is offering a summer Intro to Chemistry (CHEM 1104) course with lab May 30 through July 6 at the Missouri Innovation Campus in Lee’s Summit. Lectures will take place 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. with the lab from 12:30 to 2:20 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
