In recognition of her outstanding public service and for her efforts to prepare Missouri educators, Ann McCoy, Ph.D., dean of the University of Central Missouri College of Education, will receive the highest honor presented by students. The UCM Student Government Association will recognize her publicly as the 2022 recipient of the James C. Kirkpatrick Excellence in Governance Award at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, in the read and relaxation area, near the west entrance of the Kirkpatrick Library. The public is invited to attend this award presentation, which will be hosted by members of the SGA.
March 17, 2022The University of Central Missouri Alumni Foundation is pleased to announce that alumnus Greg Thurman, ’74, and his wife, Carla Thurman, of Franklin, Tennessee, have made a generous gift to the university. The gift of $1 million will fund the renovation of a gymnasium in the 53-year-old Lovinger Building into a state-of-the-art mixed-use educational facility.

At least this is one of the hopes of educators who planned and organized the Future Teacher Academy (FTA) at the University of Central Missouri, an event that brought approximately 450 middle school and high school students and 50 faculty sponsors to UCM.

Her experiences as student, staff, and faculty have prepared her well for her appointment as Director and Certification Officer of the Office of Clinical Services and Certification in the College of Education.

Thomas brings a wealth of experience to the role of school chair with more than 20 years of experience in the College of Education and nearly a decade of experience in K-12 teaching, administration, and consulting prior to joining UCM in 2000.
