UCM Board Honors Abney, Authorizes Several Contracts for Services

When the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors met in August, it approved a contract with Hollis and Miller Architects in the amount of $2.7 million for professional design through construction services for the renovation of the Humphreys Building. Board action was part of a meeting that also included approving several other contracts and the recognition of Steve Abney, Warrensburg, who served for the past two years as board president.

UCM Presentation Features Harvard Professor and Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Annette Gordon-Reed Sept. 22

The University of Central Missouri is excited to begin the fall 2022-2023 academic year with a presentation by a guest speaker who will inspire her audience and contribute to understanding on topics related to diversity, equity and inclusion. An Evening with Annette-Gordon Reed, giving the university community and guests an opportunity to hear, see and interact with the nationally known Harvard University educator, historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 in Hendricks Hall. The event is free and the public is invited.

WARRENSBURG, MO – University of Central Missouri students are invited to a special presentation of the documentary film “Picture a Scientist,” planned for 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2 in Nahm Auditorium, located in the W.C. Morris Science Building. The film is an initiative that is made possible by the UCM President’s Council on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

In an effort to promote a healthy and safe community environment, an electronic access project is underway at the University of Central Missouri to enable faculty, staff and students to enter main campus buildings with the use of a key fob or via their cell phones. Work on the project is expected to be completed in approximately one year, although campus members may notice some minor changes in door operations while waiting for the project’s completion.
