Airing 8-9 p.m. (CST) Fridays, beginning July 24 on KMOS PBS, the University of Central Missouri’s public television station, the show will be hosted by Alejandra Ramos.

The University of Central Missouri Lee’s Summit campus received the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce Simply the Best Business of the Year Award at a June 17 awards luncheon. UCM Lee’s Summit was recognized in the category for businesses with one to 20 employees.

Nic Webb, DNP, an associate professor and chair of the University of Central Missouri School of Nursing, has been named to a new cohort of higher education professionals across the nation who are participating in the 2022 Emerging Leaders Program (ELP). Webb, who travels to the nation’s capital June 15-17 to participate in the program, is one of 36 individuals who are part of this a premier leadership development initiative established by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).

Central Missouri Repertory Theatre received a Missouri Arts Council Express Grant for its recent production of “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll and adapted by Kathryn Schultz Miller. The annual children’s tour recently wrapped its season after performing free public performances at several sites in Central Missouri.

A former University of Central Missouri president has collaborated with two other researchers and writers on a new book with information they hope readers will take to heart. Their timely new publication, “Keys to Healthy Communication: Authenticity, Empathy and Empowerment,” provides a literary tool-kit that applies to personal, interpersonal, business and political situations, while offering practical guidance for the effective use of three essential communication concepts that could help people transform their lives.

During an annual awards breakfast hosted by the University of Central Missouri Staff Council, two individuals who have made a positive impact on the institution were recognized for their outstanding contributions. Charissa Davis, assistant director of financial aid, was honored as the 2022 recipient of J.P. Mees Outstanding Professional Staff Award and Gwena Basinger, administrative assistant to the dean in the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies, was presented the Outstanding Staff Award.
