First Lady Robin Best Collaborates with UCM Bands to Present Holiday Charity Concert Dec. 1 Benefiting Survival House

In this season of giving, area residents have an opportunity to help Survival Adult Abuse Center Inc. (Survival House) while enjoying music presented by the University of Central Missouri Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Warrensburg Community Band during the fourth annual UCM First Lady’s Holiday Charity Concert. The event takes place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 in Hendricks Hall.

Best Returns to Georgia Alma Mater as Honors College Alumnus of the Year

As part of a new initiative honoring accomplished alumni at Georgia College, University of Central Missouri President Roger Best was recently recognized as the 2021 Dr, John E. Sallstrom Honors College Alumnus of the Year. The first presentation of this award took place this fall in Milledgeville, Georgia, as the Honors College celebrated its 50-year anniversary.

Exercise Tiger Association Honors Swoboda Among Adopted Warriors

An honor that was awarded to 16 service members across the nation, Courtney Swoboda, director of Military and Veteran Services at the University of Central Missouri, was recently recognized as an Adopted Warrior by the Exercise Tiger Association (ETA), a national non-profit commemorative foundation. She and others who received this distinction were publicly honored the weekend of Nov. 12-13 during Military Appreciation festivities that occurred on the University of Missouri – Columbia campus.

As UCM engages in Giving Tuesday, Nov. 30, Smith will partner with his alma mater by hosting a student-led Zoom conversation the following day with individuals who support this annual fundraising event through their financial gifts.

UCM's Criminal Justice Students Celebrate 20-year Regional Winning Streak

For the 20th consecutive year, the University of Central Missouri's gamma Epsilon Delta chapter of the Lambda Alpha Epsilon American Criminal Justice Association (LAE-AMCA) has claimed the Sweepstakes Trophy in the Regional III competition. This is unprecedented in the history of the association. UCM will not go on to compete for its 19th consecutive national title.

UCM Transitions to New Education for Service Awards Program Honoring Faculty, Staff and Students Who Exemplify Core Values

UCM President Roger Best recently announced the establishment of the annual Education for Service Awards, which will honor one faculty member, one staff member and one student beginning with the spring 2022 semester. The first nominee applications will be submitted by Dec. 1, 2021 for individuals who exemplify the university’s six core values – Community, Diversity, Excellence, Learning, Opportunity and Service.
