University of Central Missouri (UCM) Music welcomes jazz saxophonist, scholar, and Kansas City native Dr. Melvin Butler, associate professor of music at the University of Miami, for a two two-day residency on campus. His visit includes a performance April 19 and a lecture April 20, both free and open to the public, and supported by the Florence Hull Greer-Oppenheimer General Studies Program, UCM Music Jazz and UCM Music Academic areas.

In May 2021, she received her bachelor’s degree in modern languages and culture - French. In addition, Riese’s oldest daughter graduated from UCM in 2015 with her youngest currently enrolled.

In helping to promote the University of Central Missouri and its programs, Integrated Marketing and Communications has learned that it is being honored with 16 awards for its entries in two national competitions that recognize excellence in higher education advertising and marketing. Honors highlighting outstanding creative achievements were received in both the Educational Advertising Awards and the Collegiate Advertising Awards competitions, including submissions ranging from small institutions to some of the largest and most prestigious colleges and universities in the country and abroad.

In its plenary session, March 24, the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors approved tuition, general fees, and room and board rates for the 2022-2023 academic year while also awarding a construction contract for a new wrestling room at the Multipurpose Building, made possible through private funding.

University of Central Missouri (UCM) Theatre and Dance and UCM Music present the Broadway smash hit and Tony Award-winning musical “Fun Home.” Based on the popular autobiographical graphic novel by Alison Bechdel, with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, the musical performs at UCM’s Highlander Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 1-2; 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3; and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 7-9. An ASL Interpreter will be provided for the performance on April 7. The Sunday matinee on April 3 is pay-what-you-can (minimum $1). As a content disclosure, those attending should be aware “Fun Home” contains strong language and mild adult themes.

A testament to quality leadership and faculty in two University of Central Missouri graduate programs, the 2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings released today included the Master of Science in Nursing and the part-time Master of Business Administration (MBA). Selections were partially based on factors that included high enrollment rates and high average test scores for UCM students.
