UCM Professor Awarded Second Federal Grant to Protect Workers from Electric Arc Injuries
For the second consecutive time, the PI/Project Director, Dr. Miaozong Wu, CSP, ARM, program coordinator of the Master of Science in Occupational Safety Management and associate professor of Safety Sciences at UCM, is receiving grant supports from the United States Department of Labor for a new project that will focus on electric arc safety in high-hazard industries.

UCM Esports to Host Collegiate Tournament
University of Central Missouri Esports will host and participate in an NBA 2K21 Tournament beginning Thursday, Oct. 29. The tournament will feature 11 to 12 player teams and will run for approximately one month.

Bias, Carter Receive UCM Learning to a Greater Degree Awards
Setting an example for others to emulate, Ken Bias professor and coordinator of the physical education program, and Richard (Joey) Carter, a junior music education major from Blue Springs, Missouri, were recognized as recipients of the University of Central Missouri’s Learning to a Greater Degree Award when the Board of Governors met on campus Oct. 22.

UCM Theatre and Dance Presents "Tilikum": A Virtual University Premiere Production
Providing an evening of entertainment at the fingertips of its audience, the University of Central Missouri Theatre and Dance will present the play “Tilikum” on the UCM Theatre and Dance YouTube channel at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 and Friday, Oct. 30. No tickets are necessary for this free presentation, and virtual doors open at 7:15 p.m.

The annual conference of the Association of Technology Management and Applied Engineering Technology (ATMAE) is being conducted virtually and is an opportunity to showcase meaningful research conducted by members of the organization in a variety of academic and professional areas. A grant from UCM’s Office of Graduate Education and Research (GER) helps make UCM student participation possible.

Kappa Delta Pi Seeks Support for Campus Cupboard Through T-shirt Sales
While red is one of the University of Central Missouri school colors, faculty, staff and students in the College of Education recently got an extra dose of this warm hue as faculty, staff and students purchased and wore T-shirts in support of Kappa Delta Pi education honor society’s efforts to assist the Campus Cupboard and to benefit the KDP freshman student mentoring program.

SGA Recognizes UCM Public Safety Director as Recipient of Kirkpatrick Award
An honor that has been bestowed on individuals ranging from university members to state and national government leaders, Scott Rhoad, director of public safety at the University of Central Missouri, has received the James C. Kirkpatrick Excellence in Governance Award.
