Toriano Porter, an author, journalist and public speaker who studied journalism and creative writing at the University of Central Missouri, will return to his alma mater Tuesday, Jan. 21, to present the keynote remarks at the 2020 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Freedom Scholarship Dinner. The dinner is a highlight of a celebration that includes activities in honor of King.

Governor Appoints Prominent Sedalia Businessman to UCM's Governing Board

Ken Weymuth, a third-generation business owner from Sedalia, has been named to the University of Central Missouri’s Board of Governors. Missouri Gov. Mike Parson announced the appointment, which will be effective through Jan. 1, 2025, pending Missouri Senate confirmation.

Working with Warrensburg Main Street, University of Central Missouri students are putting their knowledge of event planning into practice to create opportunities to attract people to the downtown area this spring while also enhancing the ability to market the community. Thanks to a student-Main Street partnership, planning is currently underway for what is tentatively coined “Snapshots of the ‘Burg.”

Duncans Make It Count in Son's Honor by Helping UCM Veterans

Dale and Megan Duncan recently presented a $7,500 gift to UCM from the Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Foundation. The Duncans stopped by the Military and Veterans Success Center in early December to present the check to UCM President Roger Best, with members of Military and Veteran Services and the UCM Alumni Foundation also in attendance.
