Public Safety

Working to Keep You Safe

The Department of Public Safety at the University of Central Missouri is responsible for all law enforcement and safety on the UCM campus.  Located at 306 Broad Street, Public Safety works closely with the Warrensburg Police Department, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Public Safety oversees University Police, Parking Services, and Access Control. The department provides numerous personal safety and awareness resources and programs designed to keep you safe on campus.

24/7 Police Presence

The largest division of the Public Safety department is University Police. UCM has a full-time dispatching center and 18 full-time, state-certified and fully trained peace officers. They are on duty 24/7, 365 days a year. Our Student Assistant Foot patrol and Escort (SAFE) Team patrols the campus at night to help prevent crime and offer walking escorts. UCM was the first university in the country to implement the use of the Campus Eye app, which allows you to report safety and security issues directly to Public Safety. The app is free and available to all UCM students. You can stay up to date with emergency, weather and other important UCM-related information by signing up for TextCaster to receive text alerts.
