September 28, 2022University of Central Missouri women’s basketball coaching legend Millie Barnes is returning to campus Oct. 11 to be part of a free public presentation featuring New York Times bestselling author Andrew Maraniss. His new book, “Inaugural Ballers: The True Story of the First U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team,” addresses a subject that was close to Barnes during her professional career with the UCM Jennies -- a topic that contributes to the author’s coming to campus and his remarks planned for 7 p.m. in Hendricks Hall.
September 26, 2022The University of Central Missouri is collaborating with two other Missouri universities and the Missouri Humanities Council to bring the history of one of Warrensburg’s iconic figures to life Saturday, Oct. 1. The three-day John W. “Blind” Boone Symposium Sept. 30–Oct. 2 has as its hub the UCM campus and neighboring downtown Warrensburg.
September 26, 2022Continuing to provide interesting and engaging displays of art by faculty, students and individuals across the nation, the University of Central Missouri Gallery of Art and Design announces three shows that are running concurrently Sept. 26-Oct 27. These offerings are the 2022 Faculty Show, Faculty Portrait Show, and the international show Saccharine and Cyanide by Siobhan Gallagher and Rosa Kusabbi. These exhibits are all free and open to the public in the gallery located at 217 E. Clark St., Warrensburg.
September 26, 2022The University of Central Missouri is one of 11 Missouri public and private colleges and universities that will benefit from nearly $3 million in grant funding from Governor Mike Parson to support nursing education programs and the development of solutions to alleviate staffing shortages area nationwide. Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced this initiative this week. UCM will receive $300,000, according to the governor’s office. The competitive grants were part of a special appropriation to the Missouri State Board of Nursing that was recommended by the governor.

September 21, 2022As the University of Central Missouri prepares for the 2022 Homecoming celebration, campus and community groups and individuals are invited to submit their entries for participation in the parade at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 in Warrensburg. Registration can be completed online, and those who wish to sign-up should do so by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, via the Office of Student Activities’ Homecoming website.
September 21, 2022KMOS-TV won two awards in recognition of excellence in the creation and promotion of the “KMOS PBS Adventure Day,” a nature-themed family event conducted in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Jefferson City-based Runge Conservation Nature Center. These awards were presented during a ceremony Sept. 18 in Charlotte, North Carolina by the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA). KMOS was one of many stations nationwide honored for their work in education, community engagement, marketing/communications and content creation.

September 19, 2022U.S. News & World Report, a resource many prospective students and their families use to help them make decisions about where to pursue a higher education, has announced its 2022-2023 Best Colleges rankings. It places the University of Central Missouri among institutional leaders with UCM moving up the rankings ladder in five important regional categories.
