Military veterans making the transition to civilian life are finding new opportunities for financial growth and wellness thanks to a program that teaches them the art of agricultural beekeeping. This is part of Heroes to Hives, a Michigan-based program that is offered to United States veterans through the University of Missouri with resource, land and logistical assistance provided by the University of Central Missouri.

KMOS PBS, the University of Central Missouri’s public television station, has been named a finalist in two categories of the National Education Telecommunications Association (NETA) Public Media Awards program planned for Jan. 25, 2022. The KMOS PBS initiative titled “The Story of Us: A KMOS American Portrait Special” was named a finalist in the category of Content: Cultural Documentary and in the category of Marketing/Communications: Integrated Media Campaign.

University of Central Missouri graduate student Stephanie Goh has been selected by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) as a participant in the American Library Association’s (ALA) 2022 Emerging Leaders program. Goh, who plans to graduate from UCM in May 2022 with an Education Specialist in Professional Leadership: Librarianship, is a resident of Kirkwood, Missouri, who works professionally in the St. Louis area.

After a thorough review of video, photographs and other supporting materials, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ has confirmed that the University of Central Missouri now officially holds the title for the largest ridden parade of mules. This record-setting achievement was reached with the help of 50 mules and their riders during UCM’s Homecoming parade Saturday, Oct. 23, in Warrensburg, Missouri.

With more than 900 students expected to participate, the University of Central Missouri will celebrate its 2021 Fall Commencement exercises with four ceremonies the weekend of Dec. 10-11. Graduates will not only become members of the Class of 2021 but also have the honor of being part of the 150-year class as UCM continues to celebrate its sesquicentennial.

Jeff W. Robertson, Ph.D., an educator and administrator whose teaching and leadership experience spans 24 years, has been named Dean of the University of Central Missouri’s College of Health Science and Technology (CHST). UCM Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Phillip Bridgmon announced this new appointment, noting Robertson will begin his new duties Jan. 3, 2022.
