Watch for repertoire lists to be posted soon.
Workshop information for collaborative piano coming soon.
Students may opt to perform ensemble works on the Friday night recital as an alternative to solo performing.
Students will enjoy daily private lessons, performance workshops, and classes in piano literature and music theory. Workshop topics will include an introduction to collaborative piano skills, stage deportment, and life as a college music major. Theory classes will be divided into two sections. One section will be for students on a college (music) preparatory track and will touch on topics that may be covered in college assessment tests or the frst semester of college music theory. The second section will be for students who may be in need of more rudimentary skill development. We also will have our ever-popular Monster Piano Ensemble Reading Event. Please use the menu links for the complete repertoire for the Monster Piano Event, Collaborative Piano sessions, and, new this year, a suggested repertoire list for students who elect to play ensemble music instead of a solo on the Friday recital.
Ample practice time has been scheduled each day. Counselors will be available during practice hours to answer questions and to help with developing practice techniques. Outside of class and practice time, recreational activities will be offered at various Warrensburg parks. Family and friends are invited to attend the Friday Finale camp recital in Hart Recital Hall.
A fee of $485 includes fve nights lodging in one of the university’s modern, air-conditioned residence halls, meals from Sunday through Friday, and all planned recreational activities. The fee for commuters is $330: meals may be purchased at an additional cost (contact Mia Hynes for more information). The deadline for application is June 12. An enrollment fee of $50 (applied toward tuition) is required. The fee will be refunded in full if the student withdraws before June 12. After June 12, a $25 administrative fee will be deducted from the refund. T-shirts are included with the tuition.
The institute is for students who were in grades 7-12 during the 2016-17 academic year and who have had at least three years of private piano instruction.
