Comprehensive Review Process
At the University of Central Missouri, ALL STUDENTS are encouraged to apply! We individually
review each application for admissions. Your personal excellence should and will be
evaluated by more than just academic achievement. We consider many factors, including:
high school GPA, ACT or SAT scores, personal statement, academic letters of recommendation,
leadership experience, service, community involvement and accomplishments. We are
interested in learning much more about your preparedness motivation and potential
in the unique context of your experience.
Test Optional Admission
Students applying to UCM with a 2.75 GPA or higher may be admitted without submitting
an ACT or SAT test score. Students admitted as test optional will also receive a
$1,000 Red & Black Scholarship. While you are fully admitted to UCM under the test
optional admission policy, you will need to submit a qualifying test score to be eligible
for the following:
- Direct Entry Nursing Program (requires an ACT composite of 25 or higher)
- Education majors - possible exemption from the MOGEA exam
- Honors College (requires an ACT composite of 25 or higher)
- Automatic merit scholarships**
- NCAA Athletics*
*Please note that test scores are not required for NCAA certification for the 21-22
academic year. However, test scores are still required for both certain UCM academic
direct program admissions as well as certain scholarships mentioned above.
**Students admitted under test-optional admissions are still eligible to earn a higher
Red and Black Scholarship with submission of a qualifying ACT score and GPA. See the
GPA & ACT requirements here.

Additional Information for Non-Traditional Applicants
HiSET/GED
- The University of Central Missouri welcomes students who are high school equivalency
completers. You will follow the same process as all other incoming freshman with
just a few exceptions.
- Send us your ACT/SAT scores. Our ACT test school code is 2272. Our SAT code is 6090.
If it has been more than two years since you would have graduated from high school,
ACT or SAT scores are not required.
- Have your high school send an official copy of your partial high school transcript
(if applicable). If your GED or HiSET was taken in Missouri, UCM will obtain your
score.
- UCM requires a total score of 75 and a minimum of 15 on all five subtests on the HiSET.
Students who do not meet these requirements will have their applications reviewed
on an individual basis.
- Based on the 2002 General Education Diploma score standards, you may be considered
for admission to Central Missouri if you meet the following criteria: a total score
of at least 2250, no sub-score lower than 410, and an average of all sub-scores of
at least 450 and above. If you took the GED prior to the 2002 Series GED tests, you
must have a minimum score of 225.
Home School
The University of Central Missouri welcomes students who are home-schooled. Homeschool
schools need to follow the same process as all other incoming freshman. Send us your
ACT/SAT scores and a detailed homeschool transcript. Our ACT test school code is 2272.
Our SAT code is 6090. Don’t forget to send us transcripts for any other college credit
you have earned along the way. Each homeschool applicant is reviewed on a case by
case basis.
Conditional Admission (Advantage)
